Political Trip and Up to Power
Rekha Gupta went to Delhi in 1976 after birth in Jind, Haryana on July 19, 1974. Starting her political career with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), she subsequently became the President of Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) 1996–1997. Early in the 2000s, she began her connection with BJP when she joined the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) as Delhi’s Secretary and subsequently became its National Secretary (2004-06).
Her electoral victory came in 2007 when she presided over the Women’s Welfare and Child Development Committee and became victorious from the MCD elections from North Pitampura. She lost against AAP’s Bandana Kumari in 2015 and 2020, but she came out on top in 2025 defeating the same contender by more than 29,000 votes from the Shalimar Bagh seat.
