Defying Fear: Tourists Continue to Flock to Bhaderwah After Terrorist Attack in Pahalgam

Terrorist Attack in Pahalgam

Despite the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam that shook the Kashmir Valley and claimed 26 innocent lives, tourists have shown remarkable courage and resilience by continuing to visit nearby destinations such as Bhaderwah. Just days after the heinous act, the scenic town of Bhaderwah in Jammu and Kashmir saw an encouraging influx of travelers who refused to be intimidated by terror.

Many tourists, speaking to ANI, openly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, describing it as a cowardly act intended to disrupt peace and tourism in the region. However, they unanimously expressed determination to continue visiting Kashmir, calling it an inseparable part of India.

“Kashmir Was, Is, and Will Always Be Ours” – Tourists Speak Out

In a powerful statement that echoed national sentiment, one tourist described the terrorist attack in Pahalgam as a shameful act orchestrated by Pakistan. They aimed to discourage tourism and create fear. But that will never happen. Kashmir was ours, is ours, and will remain ours. This is our motherland, and we will keep coming here.”

Another tourist added, “We heard people saying not to visit Kashmir after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, but we refused.“If we stop visiting, it means we’re scared—and we are not,”. We want to show the world that India is strong, and so are its people. Nothing will stop us from experiencing the beauty of Kashmir.”

These statements reflect a growing unity among citizens who see tourism as an act of defiance against terrorism and a message of solidarity with the local people of Kashmir.

The Spirit of Tourists Remains Unbroken

Tourists visiting Bhaderwah this week enjoyed the lush green landscapes and peaceful environment, highlighting the gap between the image that terror outfits try to project and the ground reality.

“We feel safe here. The Indian Army is present, the locals are welcoming, and there’s absolutely nothing to fear,” a group of tourists from Delhi mentioned. Their calm demeanour despite the terrorist attack in Pahalgam only reinforced their resolve to continue exploring the region.

Another tourist added, “Kashmir is heaven, and we won’t allow fear to steal it from us. We are Indians—we don’t get scared; we fight back with unity.”

Gratitude Towards the Indian Army

Rishi Bhatt, a tourist from Ahmedabad, was ziplining near Baisaran meadow when the terrorist attack in Pahalgam occurred. Recalling the moment, he expressed immense gratitude to the Indian Army.

“The Army was on the ground within 20 to 25 minutes. They secured the entire area and gave cover to all tourists,” Bhatt told ANI. “Their quick response made us feel safe. I salute their dedication and courage.”

His account demonstrates not only the severity of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam but also the swift and efficient response from Indian security forces that helped prevent further casualties.

A Luminary Message to Resilience

The 25 Indians and a citizen from Nepal were not the last of the tourists to have their lives taken at Pahalgam. The terrible attack was one of the most furious ones and occurred on 22 April when terrorists targeted tourists in the popular Baisaran meadow. Yet, rather than submitting to fear, the people have chosen resilience.

By going ahead with the Bhaderwah tour and firming up their belief in the Indian Army and local administration, tourists are sending a large and clear message: terrorism will not win.

Kashmir’s high mountains and lovely meadows shape its landscape, but in reality, the region stands against harassment, where individuals face life-defining threats that harm their feelings.
