Naxalism will end from the country by March 21, 2026: Amit Shah

Naxalism

New Delhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while responding to the discussion on the work of his ministry in the Rajya Sabha on Friday, said that due to the steps taken by the central government to strengthen internal security, Naxalism will be completely eradicated from the country by March 21, 2026.

Government’s commitment to internal security

During his address in the Rajya Sabha, Amit Shah mentioned in detail the steps taken by the government to deal with terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, Naxalite problem, drug trafficking and insurgency in the North-East. He said that the country will be free from Naxalism during the tenure of the Narendra Modi government.

He clearly said in the House, “I say with full responsibility in this House that Naxalism will end from the country by March 21, 2026.” The Home Minister said that the government has taken many important steps to provide accurate intelligence to the security forces. He also took a dig at those who believe that Naxalism is only a political problem.

Security challenges before 2014

Amit Shah said that before the Narendra Modi government was formed in 2014, the country had inherited many security challenges. These problems disrupted the peace, security and development of the country for four decades. These three major challenges included:

  • Terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir
  • Naxal violence (which had an impact from Tirupati to Pashupatinath)
  • Insurgency in the North-East

The Home Minister said that these three problems together have claimed the lives of about 92,000 civilians in the last 40 years. But no organized and well-planned efforts were ever made before to end these problems.

Solid strategy of Modi government

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for the first time after coming to power, formulated a solid strategy to deal with these challenges. He said that the central government has taken major steps to strengthen the law and order system of the country and increase the efficiency of the security forces. Amit Shah said that thousands of jawans of the state police and central paramilitary forces have made the supreme sacrifice to strengthen the internal security of the country and protect the borders.

He said that today many crimes have become interstate and multistate, such as drug smuggling, cyber crime, organized crime gangs and hawala transactions. He said, “There are many crimes in our country which are also operated from foreign countries.”

The Home Minister said that the government has made many major changes in the Home Ministry to make the internal security system more effective. He said, “In the last 10 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi strengthened national security by implementing many pending reforms in the Home Ministry in one go.”

Big change in Jammu and Kashmir

The Home Minister said that after the removal of Article 370, the situation of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir has completely changed. He said that now the terrorists are not getting local support.

He said, “10 years ago when a terrorist was killed, thousands of people used to attend his funeral. But now, terrorists are buried on the spot and their families are not given any assistance from the government.”

He said that those who earlier used to glorify terrorists and avail government facilities have been removed from government posts. This has sent a clear message in the society that terrorism will not be tolerated in any form.

Historic decision to remove Article 370

Amit Shah said that he expresses gratitude to our Constitution makers, who included Article 370 “temporarily”, so that it could be removed in future. But due to political interests, it was maintained for a long time.

He said, “On August 5, 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a historic decision to remove it and with this a new era of complete integration of Kashmir with the country began.” Government’s strict stand on Naxalism

The Home Minister said that the government has increased the deployment of security forces in Naxal-affected areas and equipped them with modern weapons and technical assistance.

He said that the number of Naxal-affected districts has decreased rapidly due to the policies of the government and the action of the security forces. In 2014, the number of Naxal-affected districts was 96, which has now come down to 46. He said that Naxalism will soon be completely eradicated.

Government’s strict stand on crimes

The Home Minister said that the government is taking strict steps to root out drug trade, cyber crime and organized crime. He said that coordination between the central and state governments is being strengthened, so that criminals can be reined in.

He said that now the government is not giving any leniency in catching and punishing the criminals.

Conclusion

It is clear from this speech of Amit Shah that the Modi government is committed to strengthening the internal security of the country and eliminating Naxalism, terrorism and other crimes. He said that by 2026 India will be free from Naxalism and the strict policies of the government will strengthen law and order in the country.

His statement in the Rajya Sabha is being taken seriously by the members of the House and across the country. Now it remains to be seen what impact these plans have in the coming years. source ANINEWS
