BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed that the initial schedule for IPL 2026 will be released on March 12. Instead of announcing the full list of matches at once, the board plans to reveal fixtures only for the first 20 days of the tournament.
This phased release is expected to help teams, broadcasters, and fans plan for the opening stretch of the competition while giving the BCCI additional time to finalize the rest of the matches.
Confirmed Dates for IPL 2026
The 19th season of the IPL is set to run from March 28 to May 31, 2026. The tournament window has been slightly revised from the earlier plan of March 26 to May 30.
As in recent seasons, the league will feature 10 teams battling it out in the T20 format across several venues throughout India.
Reason Behind Phased Schedule Release
The decision to release the schedule in parts is largely linked to upcoming state assembly elections in India. The BCCI aims to avoid any overlap with election dates and ensure adequate security arrangements for the matches.
