Gujarat Titans Appoint Vijay Dahiya as Assistant Coach Ahead of Indian Premier League 2026
The Gujarat Titans have strengthened their coaching setup ahead of the IPL 2026 season by appointing former India wicketkeeper-batter Vijay Dahiya as their new assistant coach. The franchise confirmed the appointment on Wednesday, adding another experienced figure to their backroom staff.
Experienced Coach Joins Titans Setup
Dahiya represented the India national cricket team in two Test matches and 19 One Day Internationals, earning recognition for his reliable wicketkeeping and calm presence behind the stumps. After retiring from professional cricket, he transitioned into coaching and development roles, building an impressive reputation in domestic and franchise cricket.
The former Delhi cricketer was part of the coaching staff that helped Delhi win the Ranji Trophy during the 2007–08 season, a major milestone for the team in India’s premier domestic tournament.
Strong IPL Coaching Background
Dahiya also brings valuable Indian Premier League experience to the Titans. He previously served as an assistant coach with the Kolkata Knight Riders and played a role in the franchise’s championship-winning campaigns in 2012 and 2014.
In 2019, he joined the Delhi Capitals as head talent scout, focusing on identifying emerging players. Later, he moved to the Lucknow Super Giants as assistant coach, further strengthening his credentials in the IPL ecosystem.
Strengthening the Coaching Unit
Dahiya’s appointment comes shortly after the Titans brought in former Australian opener Matthew Hayden as their batting coach. The additions signal Gujarat’s intention to further strengthen their support staff ahead of the upcoming season.
Titans’ Impressive IPL Journey
Since making their debut in 2022, the Gujarat Titans have quickly become one of the most consistent teams in the IPL. The franchise won the title in their debut season and has reached the playoffs in three of their first four campaigns, establishing themselves as a strong contender in the tournament.
With experienced figures like Vijay Dahiya joining the coaching staff, the Titans will be aiming to maintain their strong track record and push for another successful campaign in the IPL 2026 season.
