Rishabh Pant Trains with Yuvraj Singh in Mumbai Ahead of Indian Premier League 2026
Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has intensified his preparations for the upcoming IPL 2026 season by training with former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh in Mumbai. The two spent nearly four days working closely together at the historic Brabourne Stadium, focusing on improving Pant’s white-ball batting and expanding his shot-making options ahead of the new season.
Focused Training Sessions in Mumbai
Pant, who is currently 28, reportedly participated in multiple day and night batting sessions during the short training stint. The sessions were designed to help him experiment with a variety of aggressive white-ball shots and refine his approach in the shortest format of the game.
According to sources close to the duo, Pant and Yuvraj have maintained a strong personal relationship over the years and had been discussing the possibility of training together for some time.
“Pant shares a good personal equation with Yuvraj, and the idea of working together had been discussed earlier. They finally managed to make it happen last week,” a source said.
For Pant, the collaboration comes at an important moment in his career as he aims to regain top form after an inconsistent previous season.
Yuvraj Singh’s Growing Reputation as a Mentor
Former India star Yuvraj Singh, one of the greatest white-ball players in Indian cricket history, has increasingly taken on the role of a mentor to young Indian batters.
In recent years, he has worked with several promising players including:
-
Abhishek Sharma
-
Shubman Gill
-
Prabhsimran Singh
Among them, Abhishek Sharma has particularly flourished, emerging as one of the most explosive T20 batters in the world. Many in the cricketing fraternity credit Yuvraj’s guidance for helping shape Abhishek’s aggressive batting style and mental approach.
Pant hopes that similar guidance from the former World Cup hero can help him rediscover consistency and dominance in white-ball cricket.
Opportunity to Revive White-Ball Career
Pant has not represented India in limited-overs formats since August 2024, making the upcoming IPL season especially significant for his international ambitions. A strong performance in the tournament could potentially put him back in contention for national selection.
Working with Yuvraj—who was renowned for his ability to dominate bowlers in pressure situations—could help Pant refine his power-hitting, shot selection, and game awareness in T20 cricket.

After completing the training stint in Mumbai, Pant travelled to Chennai where Lucknow Super Giants have begun their pre-season training camp at the Coaching Beyond ground.
The camp is being supervised by:

The franchise plans to shift the training camp to Lucknow after March 15 as the squad prepares for the start of the tournament.
Lucknow Super Giants will begin their IPL 2026 campaign on April 1, facing Delhi Capitals in Lucknow.
Rajasthan Royals Begin Pre-Season Camp
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals have also announced the start of their first pre-season training camp in Jaipur beginning March 17.
The squad will assemble at the iconic Sawai Mansingh Stadium for a series of fitness drills, net sessions, and tactical planning.
The camp will be conducted under the supervision of head coach and director of cricket Kumar Sangakkara, who aims to strengthen team chemistry while preparing players physically and mentally for the season.
Earlier, a smaller group of Royals players—including Ravi Bishnoi, Sandeep Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja—participated in a fitness assessment and conditioning camp at the franchise’s High Performance Centre in Nagpur.
Rajasthan Royals will kick off their IPL 2026 campaign on March 30 when they face Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati.
Crucial Build-Up to IPL 2026
With multiple teams beginning their pre-season preparations and top players sharpening their skills, excitement is steadily building ahead of IPL 2026.
For Rishabh Pant in particular, the short but intense mentorship stint with Yuvraj Singh could prove to be a key turning point as he aims to return to his best and make a powerful impact in the upcoming season.
