Hundreds of people have been digging in the fields for the past few days near the Asirgarh Fort located on Khandwa Road near Indore-Ichhapur Highway. In the viral video on social media, it was seen that the villagers are digging pits in the fields by lighting mobile torches. It is being said that Mughal era gold coins are being found here. However, the police and administration are considering it as a mere rumor.

When the Nimbola police station got information about this activity, the police team reached the spot on Thursday. But till then there was no person there, only dug pits were visible. According to the police, similar claims were made in this area earlier, but no concrete evidence was found.

Rumors of treasure had spread four months ago too

This is not the first time that rumors of treasure have spread in Asirgarh village. Four months ago too there was a lot of talk about gold coins here, after which people started digging in the fields. Now once again a similar rumor is spreading on social media through a viral video. It is clearly visible in the video that people are engaged in digging the fields in the darkness of the night. Although the police is calling it a case of earlier digging, but the latest video is pointing towards new digging.

Police response

District Superintendent of Police (SP) Devendra Patidar said, “We have come to know about this matter through the media. We are investigating it. If anyone is caught digging illegally, legal action will be taken against him.”

When the Nimbola police station reached the spot on Thursday, there was no person there. The police found only pits, but no evidence of coins was found. The police administration is considering it just a rumor, but the freshness of the viral video is raising many questions.

Historical background

Asirgarh Fort holds an important place in medieval history. This fort was very famous during the reign of Mughal emperor Akbar. According to historians, it was a common practice of people in that era to keep their precious metals and wealth safe by burying them in the ground. For this reason, rumors of treasure keep flying here from time to time. Such incidents have come to light many times before, where coins were found, but no concrete evidence has been found so far.

Administration’s appeal

The police and administration have appealed to the local people not to pay attention to rumors and avoid illegal digging. If any suspicious activity is seen, immediately inform the police.

What is the truth?

It is not clear yet whether coins are really being found here or it is just a rumor. Only after the administration’s investigation will it be clear whether there is really any treasure here or it is just a fabricated claim of the people.

Meanwhile, there is a stir in Asirgarh village and people are curious to know about this incident. Police investigation is going on and the truth is expected to come out soon. source aajtak.in
