Assam’s Economy, February 25, 2019 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025 in Guwahati by talking about how the state’s economy has grown under BJP rule. He said that the success of the “double-engine” government was shown by the fact that Assam’s economy has doubled to ₹6 lakh crore.

PM Modi talked about how important Advantage Assam is as a key initiative that connects Assam to world business prospects. He said that India’s North-East is now a big driver to its growth, thanks to its many resources and good location.
Assam’s Growing Role in the Economy
Modi showed that Assam’s economy has grown very quickly, from ₹2.75 lakh crore in 2018 to ₹6 lakh crore in just six years. He said that policy changes, investments in infrastructure, and making local supply lines stronger were all responsible for this success.
Infrastructure and Changes in Industry
The Prime Minister talked about how Assam’s railway budget has grown five times, from ₹2,100 crore (2009–2014) to ₹10,000 crore under the BJP government. He also came up with the “Unnati” plan for the North-East Industrialisation Transformation, which is meant to speed up industry growth in the area.
Assam is India’s way of getting to Southeast Asia.
Modi made Assam a major trade hub by making India sign new trade deals and improve its connections with the rest of the world. He said that Assam wants to have a Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of $143 billion by 2030. This will be possible with help from the government and local business owners.
Legacy of Assam and Its Future Possibilities
Assam’s 200-year-old tea business was seen by PM Modi as an example of the country’s world potential. He told the state to use its skills in many areas so that the economy would keep growing.
