BJP’s victorious campaign, big blow to Congress
In these elections, only an independent candidate from Manesar, Dr. Inderjit Yadav, who is considered a rebel leader of BJP, won. Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini called this victory a blessing of the people and said that people have given their support to the “triple engine government”.
Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, while talking to NDTV, said that this victory will open new avenues for the development of the state and will help in furthering the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Developed India’.
BJP’s big win in Gurugram and Rohtak
This time Congress fielded several candidates on its symbol in the local elections, in which there was a direct contest with BJP for the post of Mayor of Gurugram. BJP fielded Rajasthan Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Delhi’s newly elected Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in its campaign, while Sachin Pilot and Bhupinder Hooda took charge from the Congress side.

- Yamunanagar: BJP’s Suman defeated Congress’ Kirana Devi.
Low voter turnout in civic polls, only 41% people turn up to vote
Voting was held in Faridabad, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal, Yamunanagar, Gurugram and Manesar on March 2, while by-elections were also held in Ambala and Sonipat on the same day. Voting was held in Panipat on March 9.
However, this time the voting percentage was very low, only 41% people cast their votes, which is considered to be the lowest voting percentage till date. In the assembly elections held last year, this figure was 68%.
