Home Minister Amit Shah Reaches Ground Zero

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached the scene of the attack on Wednesday, arriving at Baisaran Meadow by helicopter under tight security plans. Army and paramilitary personnel were deployed in large numbers to cordon off the area as Shah visited the site and examined the situation himself. Tributes Paid in Srinagar

Shah on Tuesday night, within hours of landing in Srinagar, conducted a high-level security meeting attended by the cream of army officials, police chiefs, and heads of intelligence agencies. Topics to be discussed on the agenda included analyzing present security arrangements, framing plans for conducting counter-terror operations, and enhancing inter-agency cooperation. There was an on-the-spot review ordered too of tourist safety measures.

Valley Records Shutown Protesting

The terror strike has resulted in widespread anger and grief throughout the Kashmir Valley. Political parties and traders’ unions, together, called for a total shutdown in support of the families of the victims on Wednesday. Shops, business establishments, and public transport services were shut. Roads had a deserted appearance as locals kept a day of mourning.

Candlelight Vigils and Nationwide Support

Across Kashmir cities, residents held candlelight vigils to commemorate the victims. Candles were lit, placards held, and prayers for peace said by people in Srinagar, Anantnag, and Baramulla. Social media platforms were filled with solidarity messages, pleas for integration, and a demand for speedy justice.

Increased Security and the Path Forward

In reaction to the attack, security has been tightened all over Jammu and Kashmir. Additional checkpoints, enhanced surveillance, and aerial patrolling are being put in place, particularly in tourist areas. The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed agencies to spare no effort in the pursuit of the perpetrators.
