FIR Alleges Rahul Gandhi Ignored Security Protocols, Congress Challenges BJP With CCTV Footage Demand

rahul gandhi

The Parliament scuffle involving Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has escalated, with the Delhi Police registering an FIR against him following a complaint by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The FIR accuses Gandhi of ignoring security instructions and inciting aggression during the incident, which allegedly left two BJP MPs injured.

BJP’s Allegations

The complaint, filed by BJP MP Hemang Joshi, states that Rahul Gandhi pushed two protesting BJP MPs, Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, causing head injuries that required immediate medical attention at RML Hospital. The incident reportedly occurred at the Makar Dwar entrance of the Parliament complex, where BJP MPs were staging a protest against what they called “misinformation” spread by the Opposition.

According to the FIR, Gandhi arrived at the scene around 10:40 am and was advised by security personnel to use a designated entry route. However, he allegedly disregarded the instructions and, “with malicious intent,” attempted to disrupt the BJP’s protest.

The FIR also accuses Gandhi of inciting members of the INDIA bloc to advance towards the BJP protesters with “force and aggression,” thereby “endangering their safety.” It alleges that his actions were “reckless and intentional,” fully aware of the potential for serious or life-threatening injuries.

Congress Pushes Back

The Congress party has vehemently denied the allegations, claiming that the BJP MPs were the aggressors. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi countered the accusations, stating that BJP MPs tried to block and push him when he attempted to enter the Parliament. He alleged that the scuffle was initiated by BJP lawmakers in an effort to intimidate Opposition leaders.

The Congress also alleged that Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge sustained injuries during the incident. Gandhi called the accusations against him baseless and demanded that CCTV footage of the area be released to reveal the truth.

CCTV Challenge

In a counteroffensive, the Congress has challenged the BJP to release CCTV footage of the incident to clarify the sequence of events. Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said, “Let the nation see who was responsible for the chaos. CCTV footage will show the truth and expose the BJP’s false narrative.”

Political Fallout

The scuffle has further strained relations between the ruling BJP and the Opposition INDIA bloc. While the BJP has labeled the incident as “unparliamentary conduct” by Gandhi and his allies, the Congress has accused the BJP of suppressing dissent and turning Parliament into a battleground.

The FIR and subsequent political sparring come amid heightened tensions during the ongoing Parliamentary session. The BJP has demanded strict action against Gandhi, while Congress has hinted at a legal challenge against what it calls a “fabricated” FIR.

What’s Next?

As the controversy unfolds, all eyes are on the CCTV footage, which could play a pivotal role in determining the authenticity of the claims from both sides. Meanwhile, the FIR has added another layer of complexity to an already tense political landscape, with the Opposition questioning the BJP’s intent and the ruling party standing firm on its allegations.

The Parliament session is expected to remain turbulent as both sides continue to trade accusations, making the release of the CCTV footage a key factor in resolving the dispute.
