Kyle Jamieson shook Babar Azam-Wickson Pakistan, 3 wickets in 11 balls, top order scorer

Pakistan’s poor start in the first T20I against New Zealand, powerplay score 14/4

The Pakistan team, after performing poorly in the Champions Trophy, hoped to start the T20 series against New Zealand, but their performance in the first match was very disappointing. In this match played at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Sunday, New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson badly shook the top order of Pakistan, taking 3 important wickets within the powerplay.

Jamison performed best in the powerplay

The Pakistani team, which flopped for the first time in the toast, got a heavy pad in the absence of experienced batsmen Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. Jamieson performed brilliantly with the new ball and again gave a big blow to Pakistan by dismissing Mohammad Haris in the very first over. This over was a wicket-maiden.

After this, Jacob Duffy dismissed the second superstar Hasan Nawaz. In the third over, Jamieson dismissed Shahjahan Khan for 1 run and reduced Pakistan’s score to 3/3. In the fourth over, Jamieson dismissed Shadab Khan, in which Tim Robin took a wonderful catch. Pakistan’s team captured just 14/4 in the powerplay.

Why did Babar and Rizwan go out?

After Pakistan’s poor performance in the Champions Trophy, the selection decided to drop Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan from the team for this T20 series.

Pakistan’s interim coach and chief selector Aaqib Javed said that this decision has been taken with the aim of challenging the new players and creating the team’s mindset for modern T20 cricket.

Speaking to the media, he said, “If you look at other competitions, most of them have 70 percent of their players in different T20 squads. We are also working in this direction before the Asia Cup and World T20. We have to prepare our players for the fearless cricket competition.”
