Mudra Yojana an ‘Eye-Opener for Any Government’: PM Modi Interacts with Beneficiaries on Scheme’s 10th Anniversary

Mudra Yojana: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday marked the 10th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) by hosting an interaction with beneficiaries at his residence. Describing the scheme as a monumental success, PM Modi said it serves as an “eye-opener” for any government aiming to empower its citizens.

Warm welcome to beneficiaries!

The Prime Minister began the interaction by extending a heartfelt welcome to the guests. “It is said in our scriptures that when guests come to a house, the house becomes pure. So, I welcome you all,” he said, underlining the cultural value of hospitality.

₹33 Lakh Crore Disbursed Without Collateral

Highlighting the scale of the Mudra Yojana, PM Modi shared that loans worth ₹33 lakh crore have been disbursed without requiring any form of guarantee or collateral. “You read in the newspaper that the current administration is a government for the rich. But even if you add up the total of all the rich, they wouldn’t have received ₹33 lakh crore. This money has gone to the common man of the country,” he emphasised.

A Boost for Youth and Entrepreneurship

The prime minister described the scheme as a catalyst for entrepreneurship, especially among the youth, and said that even a small push can lead to massive results. “This Mudra Yojana is not for Modi’s praise. This is to give courage to the youth of my country to stand on their own feet,” he stated.

PM Modi shared that several beneficiaries have gone on to become employers themselves — some hiring one or two people, and others employing 40–50. “This massive task of providing employment generates the economy,” he noted.

Women Leading the Charge

A standout achievement of the scheme has been the overwhelming participation of women entrepreneurs. “The highest number of beneficiaries under the Mudra scheme are women. They’ve applied for the most loans, received the most, and repaid them faster than anyone else,” the Prime Minister pointed out, calling this a symbol of growing self-reliance among women.

From Gulf Worker to Entrepreneur: A Kerala Story

During the interaction, a beneficiary from Kerala shared how the Mudra Yojana changed his life. Previously working in the UAE, he used the Mudra loan to return to India and launch his own business. “It transformed me into a successful entrepreneur,” he said.

PM Modi, with a smile, asked if his mother was upset about him leaving his job abroad to return home. The entrepreneur replied, “Everything went well in the end,” drawing smiles and applause from the audience.

Celebrating 10 Years of Mudra Yojana

Since its launch in April 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana has disbursed over 52 crore loans amounting to ₹32.61 lakh crore. The scheme was introduced to provide financial assistance to unfunded micro-enterprises and small businesses, eliminating the need for collateral and simplifying the credit process.

“Interact with some of the beneficiaries of the scheme. Their journey is inspiring,” PM Modi shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter), along with a video of the interaction.

A New Era of Grassroots Entrepreneurship

The Mudra Yojana’s triumph is being celebrated as a significant advancement in the direction of inclusive economic growth. It has incited a grassroots entrepreneurial movement throughout the nation, providing millions of Indians, particularly women and youth, with the resources necessary to pursue economic independence, innovation, and self-employment.

The government is steadfast in its dedication to fostering the spirit of enterprise and expanding financial access in every corner of India as the scheme commemorates a decade of impact. Source ANINEWS
