The likely cause? Dye transfer from Hyderabad’s maroon jerseys.

Former Pakistan cricketers Shoaib Akhtar and Kamran Akmal openly criticized the league. Akhtar questioned the professionalism of franchises, while Akmal mocked the quality of kits, suggesting they looked cheaply produced.

Another major controversy involved Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi.

He was fined PKR 1 million for violating PSL security protocols.

The issue revolved around unauthorized guests being allowed into the team hotel despite clear refusals from both PSL and PCB security officials.

Reports suggest that Afridi, along with teammate Sikandar Raza, hosted guests late at night in a hotel room—even after multiple permission requests were denied.

This is not a minor lapse.

PSL operates under strict security conditions, especially given the sensitive environment surrounding international cricket in Pakistan.

Such breaches raise serious concerns:

• His social media manager was removed

But the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) did not take it lightly.

Naseem Shah was fined PKR 20 million—one of the largest fines in Pakistan cricket history. The PCB stated that he had breached multiple clauses of his central contract.

The controversy deepened due to the context:

• Stadiums were closed to the general public
• Yet political figures were present in VIP sections
