Fakhar Zaman sanctioned for Code of Conduct breach
Fakhar Zaman has been suspended for two matches in the ongoing Pakistan Super League after being found guilty of a Level 3 offence under Article 2.14, which relates to altering the condition of the ball. The decision was announced after a disciplinary review of an incident that occurred during a match involving Lahore Qalandars.
The controversy unfolded late in the match against Karachi Kings, when umpires inspected the ball and concluded that its condition had been changed. As a result, the fielding side was penalized five runs and the ball was replaced — a moment that significantly influenced the outcome of the game.
Because the offence was categorized as Level 3, the disciplinary guidelines allowed for a suspension ranging from one to two matches. Fakhar received the maximum penalty, meaning he will miss Lahore’s upcoming fixtures in the tournament.
Matches he will miss
Due to the suspension, Fakhar Zaman will sit out:
- Match vs Multan Sultans
- Match vs Islamabad United
These fixtures are scheduled shortly after the incident, impacting Lahore’s top-order plans.
Right to appeal
Under PSL rules, players found guilty of such offences can appeal within 48 hours of receiving the match referee’s written verdict, leaving the door open for Fakhar to challenge the decision if he chooses.
